Pink house
Alabaster
This alabaster sculpture emerged from the artist's first experience of stone carving. Drawn repeatedly to the image of the house throughout her practice , she chooses this familiar form as a point of departure for exploring the material.
Carved from a solid block of alabaster, the work balances weight and permanence with the stone's translucent and delicate qualities. Though simple in form, the sculpture reflects an enduring fascination with the idea of home as both a physical space and a phycological space. Throughout the artist's work, the house recurs as a symbol of memory, belonging, protection, and identity.
