Domestic Goddess
Mixed media installation incorporating household mops.
Domestic Goddess playfully reimagines the familiar phrase "domestic goddess" through a series of sculptural forms created from ordinary household mops. Cut, manipulated, and reassembled, these objects are transformed from tools of domestic labor into radiant, celebratory forms that occupy the space between artifact, ornament, and offering. Created in response to the presence of a large statue of Aphrodite within the exhibition space, the work draws a humorous connection between ideal of feminine beauty, mythology, and the often invisible labor associated with the home. By elevating humble cleaning tools into sculptural objects, the installation invites reflection on the cultural expectations placed upon women while embracing wit, transformation, and acts of creative reinvention.
