Yerteasoot #2
Created from ash gathered from the artists own fireplace, this work takes the form of a temporary domestic landscape. The ash was sifted, compressed into the dimensions of a standard tablecloth, and overlaid with a lace cloth whose pattern was recorded as a negative image through a fine mist of enamel paint.
The work reflects upon memory as something both fragile and persistent. The lace pattern recalls family gatherings and rituals associated with home, while the ash serves as a material embodiment of what remains after transformation and loss. Existing in a precarious state between presence and disappearance, the image functions as a memorial trace-an impression of something once held, now gone, yet not entirely absent.
