Sister/Sister
Oak chair, mirror
Sister/Sister was created in response to the death of the artists twin sister. An oak chair was sawn in half and positioned against a mirror, allowing its reflection to complete the missing side and restore the illusion of wholeness.
The work explores grief, absence, and the enduring bond between twins. The reflected image suggests both presence and loss: one half remains physically present while the other exists only as a reflection. Through a simple gesture of division and reconstruction, the sculpture expresses the longing to recover what has been lost and the desire to feel whole again.
Rather than offering resolution, the work occupies the space between memory and absence, where love persists despite irreparable loss.
