Yerteasoot #4
Wood tabletop and sunlight
A lace tablecloth placed over a wooden tabletop was exposed to sun and bleach over an extended period, producing a negative image permanently inscribed into the surface. The work emerged through a process of gradual weathering in which the tablecloth acted as a protector and stencil.
Referencing the lace tablecloths reserved for special occasions in the artists family home, the wok explores memory as a form of imprint. The image appears as a ghostly trace-simultaneously present and absent-suggesting how domestic objects continue to carry emotional histories long after the lives and gatherings associated with them have passed. Through loss, the work becomes a record of what remains.
